South West President Laftagareen Addresses Conflict and Mass Displacement
The President of the South West State of Somalia, Mr. Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed Laftagareen, has spoken about the difficult conditions facing the people living in the South West regions, particularly the hardships caused by ongoing conflict and widespread displacement affecting thousands of civilian families.
President Laftagareen stated that the people of South West are currently struggling with extremely harsh circumstances, including displacement, insecurity, poor living conditions, and constant fear. He emphasized that the affected communities are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance and genuine support.
The President also criticized former Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud, accusing him of failing to show compassion or concern for civilians affected by the crisis, and instead focusing on political interests and power struggles.
“Former President Hassan Sheikh appears to be consumed solely by politics, while turning a blind eye to the suffering and hardships endured daily by innocent civilians facing displacement and abuses,” President Laftagareen said.
Finally, the President called on the people of South West to remain patient and resilient, reaffirming that the South West State government is committed to overcoming the current challenges and restoring peace, stability, and essential public services.
“I urge the people to remain steadfast. God willing, the current hardship will soon be overcome,” President Laftagareen concluded.
